Spectrum Property & Projects was the project manager for the restoration of the historic western façade of The Dymocks Building at 428 George St Sydney. The project involved an initial investigation phase whereby dilapidated components of the terracotta façade faience were removed for safety and investigative reasons. Terracotta faience replacement tiles and decorative features were hand made by a specialist artisan supplier in Boston USA, then shipped to Australia for careful installation across the full extent of the building façade. Existing steel windows were all removed, restored and reinstalled in an afterhours floor by floor program. The remaining original façade fabric including copper cladding was thoroughly cleaned to remove many years of dirt and grime. The final phase of the program involved the manufacture and installation of a new animated neon Dymocks vertical blade sign which is now a prominent feature of the George St streetscape.

The services of Spectrum Property & Projects have since been retained to coordinate studies for a proposed restoration program which will take in the remaining three building facades.
